Week 4 – Windows MALICIOUS Removal Tool

Hello and welcome to Thursday. Tech Tip brought to you by Adirondack Online Services this week. Going to hop on a computer and show you a really cool tool that’s built into windows. So let’s go on over there and check it out. Okay. On our computer, we’re going to go down to the search bar and type in M, R, T and then go over to the M, R, T Run command. Once that happens, you’ll get prompted. Do you want to allow this app to make changes to your device? And this is the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool that. Click Yes, next another window will pop up. And this just welcome you to the Microsoft Windows Malicious Software Removal Tool. And it’s not to replace antivirus. It’s to be used to detect anything on your computer. So you click next and you get prompted with either a quick scan, full scan or a customized scan. So you hit next and let the app run. It’s going to scan and I’m doing a quick scan, so it’s going to go pretty quickly here. Okay. Once the tool is done, it’s going to let you know what was found or if anything was detected. And it says for us, no malicious software was detected. That’s great news. So when you’re done, you click finish.
